چکیده

Anaerobic Digestion Model 1 (ADM1), developed by the International Water Association (IWA) in 2002 is the first and most advanced model applicable for predicting biogas pro-duction and the dynamic processes involved. The model includes parameters after the dis-integration to define substrates in terms of carbohydrates (XCh), proteins (XPr), lipids (XLi) and inert (XI) fractions. Chemical Weendervan Soest analysis was performed to characterize substrates and batch experiments were performed using ANKOM Wireless gas sensor devices. The biogas production using chicken manure was monitored on hourly basis and further simulations were performed using the kinetic constants derived from the experimental results. The simulation program SIMBA® was used for the calculations. The results obtained showed a comparison with experimental data, both in terms of the calcu-lated amount of gas and in terms of the gas composition and was in very good agreement with the corresponding measured values. Use of ADM was thus determined to be reliable and beneficial in predicting the biogas production and the system dynamics.

Application of Anaerobic Digestion Model No. 1 for describing anaerobic digestion of grass, maize, green weed silage, and industrial glycerine.

Anaerobic digestion of organic waste plays an important role for the development of sustainable energy supply based on renewable resources. For further process optimization of anaerobic digestion, biogas production with the commonly used substrates, grass, maize, and green weed silage, together with industrial glycerine, were analyzed by the Weender analysis/van Soest method, and a simulation s...

Modelling the energy balance of an anaerobic digester fed with cattle manure and renewable energy crops.

Knowledge of the net energy production of anaerobic fermenters is important for reliable modelling of the efficiency of anaerobic digestion processes. By using the Anaerobic Digestion Model No. 1 (ADM1) the simulation of biogas production and composition is possible. This paper shows the application and modification of ADM1 to simulate energy production of the digestion of cattle manure and ren...

A new kinetic model for biogas production from co-digestion by batch mode

Coming out from the growth kinetics, the Gompertz model has been developed and considered as the best one for simulating the biogas production from anaerobic digestion. However, the model has failed to describe the starting point of the process, and no-sense of lag phase constant has been pointed out. Thus, the goal of this study is to develop a new kinetic model of biogas production with meani...

Modeling and Removal of Hydrogen Sulfide from Biogas Produced by Anaerobic Digestion

Anaerobic digestion can be used to convert organic waste into energy not only to provide renewable energy, but also reduce greenhouse gases. During the anaerobic digestion process, biogas is produced, which can be used for heating and electricity generation. The produced biogas contains methane and some other gases, the most destructive of which is hydrogen sulfide gas. If hydrogen sulfide gas ...

ADM1 simulation of the thermophilic mono-fermentation of maize silage – Use of an uncertainty analysis for substrate characterization

The Anaerobic Digestion Model No. 1 (ADM1) was applied for the mathematical simulation of the thermophilic mono-fermentation of maize silage. Data from a period of 140 days of pilot plant operation were used for model calibration. The substrate characterization in terms of carbohydrates, proteins, lipids and inert matter was based on data derived from fodder analysis. The model was capable of a...
